I Heart January

There's a lot of battling the January blues going around the blogosphere, so I'm throwing my thoughts out there. Here are my top 10 reasons that January does not suck.



1. I survived all of that horrendous snow, without falling over once. One point to me. 

2. The looooooong wait between December and January pay day finally ended. Two days earlier than expected, in fact.

3. I have a job. It may not be what I always want to do but other people would love to be in my position. I am blessed and I am thankful.

4. I made new friends in January. New friends are delightful. 

5. I get to spend the whole of January looking forward to February, which is my birthday. Yay. 

6. The bridesmaids and bride hung out together for the first time, to talk about my best friend's wedding. Girl time is always time well spent. 

7. Every week, I get to do life with some of the most amazing folks around. 'Nough said. 

8. I've had some lovely encouragement this month about Inside Melly's Mind. AND new followers.

9. Amazing things are happening in my career. 

10. I crossed off number 8 on my 'Melly in 2013' list. 


And there you have it, folks. Ten reasons that January does not suck. Does it mean I'm entirely happy with absolutely everything right now? 
No, I have still have a Masters to finish, work to get done and other goals to accomplish. The temptation is to want it all right now but maybe that isn't always for the best. 
Some fabulous things have happened this month and I have 11 months to do something about the things that I don't like. 


Anyone else had some fabulousness occur in January?

    Your photo is so cute babe! I love your list, it's so true, January kind of sucks for most people but I find that being grateful for the little things and realizing how much you actually have, makes it so much easier.

Morning. I hadn't planned to write this post - it wasn't scheduled or anything like that but I decided that something needed to be said. Over the past few days, I've had a couple of rather unpleasant comments on here. I won't dwell on them but the first one was a little cheeky. The second was downright mean and nasty. Now, I'm all for constructive criticism and I work constantly to improve the quality of what's on the blog, with regular features etc. And even invested in (read: was gifted with) a new camera. So, you have to understand that the blog is a work in progress. Also, might I add, a hobby. I work full time. One comment asked me my 'credentials'. My job is in Marketing, within the internet development team of a top UK jeweller. I don't need credentials to write a blog. Being a blogger is about having an interest in something. It's also about being brave enough to put yourself out there and I will always expect comments from people.
