Mini Break in Switzerland: Part One

Hello there! Guess what? I went on a mini break. Yes, it was gorgeous. Tell you all about it? I'd love to!

Five Happy Things #1

Image
Thought I'd do a little post of the things that have made me happy last week. It hasn't been the happiest week ever but you have to choose to be happy. So, that's what I'm doing. 1. Catching up with friends at the weekend It's something I really took for granted at one point but grabbing a couple of hours with people that you love is so precious! I had coffee with Andriana on Saturday. She's one of my forever friends, so although it was only just over an hour, I laughed so much. She's awesome. Then, I had lunch at The Swallow's Nest with Lisa. She was my travel buddy, when we headed to Paris in 2012 and this week, she moves away to start a brand new chapter, as an au pair in Switzerland. I'll miss her like crazy but shall see her soon. (More on that story later). And...my best bud came back from her holiday. I'd missed her! She bought me presents. Thanks, Bek! 2. Payday purchases! Who doesn't love payday? I'm meant to be s

Blognix 14

Saturday 14th June, I went to Blognix 14. It's a one day conference for bloggers, organised by the lovely Elizabeth Sellers of Rosalilium . This was my first bloggers conference, so I was beyond excited to be going. I went with two hats on - work and personal. My company sent me and I managed to glean a lot for both. It's kind of scary heading to a conference by yourself but if I'm going to be doing this more in the future, Blognix was an excellent place to start. The whole day was so well organised. There was no confusion about what was happening when, there were super friendly members of the team greeting you and registering you and it started on time. After Elizabeth had welcomed everyone, she started the talks off with her very own, titled  Brand Like You Mean It: Actionable Steps To Building A Strong Blog Brand. Branding has been the forefront of my thinking for Inside Melly's Mind, lately. She gave some amazing tips. Here are the things I'll be cons

BEDM | Wishlist

Image
Bonjour! I have been such a fail on the BEDM front. But...what I think I might do is go back through the content plan and write a few posts. I've thoroughly enjoyed having a browse of all yours. Sadly, circumstances haven't allowed much time for me to be on top of my content, which sucks. Today's topic is wishlist. I could have written a pay day one but...mine has already gone. So, I thought a travel one would be more interesting. I've been to Ilfracombe (it's so gorgeous) but I haven't been to any of the others. Can't believe how much beauty I'm missing out on - more or less on my doorstep!      So, that's my wish list, folks! How many have you been to? Any other recommendations? Much love,   Melly xoxo

Melly's Musings | Life Update: New Job

Image
Just when I thought I had received my fair share of exciting life events this year, things changed.... It's been a funny old year. I think the important bits and pieces are pretty much on here but work-wise, it's been especially up and down.

Yes Moments

Image
Yes Moments are those tiny moments when life has complete clarity, meaning or certainty. Yes Moments can be life-changing or life-affirming. Yes Moments are about celebrating the little daily victories. Yes Moments are about recognising just how far you've come. Tell us what Yes Moments mean to you.

Almost Christmas

Image
Okay, so in roughly a month, it will be actual Christmas Day and I cannot wait! I've always been a big fan of Christmas. Every year, I'm amazed at how we can pack so much loveliness into one (relatively short) period of time. There's a real buzz in the atmosphere. There's an element of stress but it's all for a good reason, so we take it in our stride. There's planning and preparation (two of my favourite things). Family time, outings with your friends, endless fun and food (!!). All of a sudden, everywhere looks so much more beautiful. I love strolling through Birmingham, where all the big trees are up and the lights line the streets. I love wandering around the shops, listening to Christmas songs. And I even like that little burst of heat that blows onto your face, when you walk into the department stores. Birmingham is also excellent because of the Frankfurt Christmas Market, or 'German Market'. I went along to it with the work peeps and ate fa
